The Best EE Resources
With the Extended Essay process getting officially started and all of us being probably kind of overwhelmed about what to do and the best way to do it, we have compiled a list of the best EE resources to make the IB student life a bit easier. A big thank you to Mrs Kirby for approving these resources!
IB Resources given to us by KIH
First and foremost, the IB timeline and introduction, the IB workbook created by Mrs Kirby and the IB Handbook made by one of our fellow online IB students contain all the necessary info about the EE and what you need to do in order to succeed at this integral part of the IBDP.
EE at ISB
EE at ISB, although it is a website originally made for another international school, has a ton of freely accessible EE resources. From tips regarding reflections, critical thinking skills and even a guideline called the “EE in 8 Steps” offering an insight into how you can structure your EE journey, it provides a lot that can make your life easier and less stressful.
Lanterna
Lanterna Education, a firm specialising in IB tutoring and support, also has an abundance of EE tips and resources on their website. Especially helpful is their “Master Guide IB Extended Essay”, written by successful IB graduates.
IB Mastery
With a lot of different resources for many subjects including Theory of Knowledge, many of you may already know IB Mastery. One of our favorites though is their tips on making a good extended essay great, which is something most of us will probably greatly appreciate when the time comes.
LibGuides
A lot of international schools have openly accessible LibGuides online, including the American International School of Guangzhou, which has a nice collection of materials talking about everything from note taking to how to evaluate your sources.
PrepScholar
Featuring top tips regarding the EE, a comprehensive overview of the markscheme and a lot of sample essays, PrepScholar is a great website to get a general overview and some tips to ease the process.
IB Education Singapore
Although less extensive than some of our other mentions, this website still provides their top 15 tips about writing the EE which can certainly be helpful if you don’t want to read a whole guide or lengthy website.
One Education
One Education compiles an overview of the EE and its requirements, a step-by-step guide, and top tips, providing an excellent starting point for a successful EE journey.
TutorsPlus
With their information regarding the EE process and tips on how to get top marks, and input on how to make the process fun and enjoyable, this is certainly a website worth book-marking.
Westbourne School
Another accessible school-specific website, Westbourne School’s “How to Write the Extended Essay” give a lot of information about the EE process, split into 17 sections ranging from the technicalities like developing your research question and methodology to the final presentation and viva voce with your supervisor.
One of the best databases of IB resources, quester.io has a collection of EE resources, with more being continuously added by fellow IB students and graduates from around the world. They also have amazing materials on how to ace your IB subjects and the IB core including Theory of Knowledge.
Connected Papers
While this is not EE-specific, Connected Papers provides a way to easily find papers connected to your research and thus is a useful tool for all research essays including Internal Assessments and the EE.
